Wilson leads City back to winning ways
A double from top scorer Scott Wilson lead City back to winning ways this afternoon with a 4-0 victory over Concord Rangers. The visitors came into the game rooted to the foot of the table but they enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges, Kyei and Monelle both testing Max Harris with efforts on goal. As the half progressed though City began to get on top and they would never relinquish this control. Tom Smith saw a deflected shot tipped over by Beeney on 20 minutes before Dan Hayfield’s low shot flew narrowly wide three minutes later. The pressure finally told five minutes before the interval when Hayfield crossed for Wilson to slide the ball home from six yards. And three minutes later it was 2-0, Elliott Frear’s low centre just evading Wilson but Beckett diverting the ball into his own net. Six minutes into the second half Wilson struck again, evading several challenges in the box before taking full advantage of a kind deflection to stroke the ball home. Wilson fired a great chance over the bar to secure his hat-trick before Kieran Parselle was denied by a great Beeney save. However, the keeper was powerless to keep out Dan Hayfield header on 76 minutes to complete the comfortable win for the Romans.
