Wilson and Morton boost City to Slough win
A second half brace from Scott Wilson plus another stunning James Morton strike saw City beat Slough Town 3-0 at Arbour Park this evening. After a low-key first half – the best chance falling to the home side on 32 minutes when Max Harris diverted Burgess’ shot wide – the game burst into life on 50 minutes. Sonny Cox’s goalbound follow-up shot, after Wilson had seen his effort blocked by keeper Dennis, was handled on the line by player-manager Davies. He received a red card and Wilson completed the punishment by firing home the penalty kick. Two minutes later only a brilliant goalline block from Eweka denied Cox as City took total control of the game. They made it 2-0 in the 66th minute when Morton curled a 20-yard shot into the top corner. Into stoppage time City secured a first ever league win at Slough and a third successive away success when Wilson lifted a 16-yard shot over Burgess.
