Lydeard win closes gap on league leaders
Bath City Women closed the gap on league leaders Pen Mill Ladies with a 3-1 win over Bishops Lydeard Ladies Reserves this afternoon at Twerton Park. While the Yeovil-based side were losing against Paulton Rovers Ladies Reserves, goals from Tanea Wright, Jade Whale and Bronnie Cranfield, on her debut, was enough to secure a third successive victory. An unusual lack of composure in the final third from City had seen the game approach the half hour mark goalless but Wright finally broke the deadlock, cutting inside before firing a left-foot shot past Lindsay. However, the visitors levelled straight from the restart Davidson burst into the City box and beat Sophie Campbell at her near post. City restored their lead on 53 minutes through a great solo effort from Whale. And the win was secured in the 67th minute when good work from Ali Diegutis and Whale saw Cranfield mark her first appearance in the stripes by lifting the ball over Lindsay from 12 yards.
