The Next Match – The A4 Derby Part I – Chippenham Town Away

City head to our closest geographic rivals on Boxing Day for our festive A4 Derby. Away fans are not permitted to travel to matches, but Chippenham have advised us that they will be live streaming the match.

The Bluebirds currently sit in 12th place, six points ahead of City having played three more games. They’ve had a varied December, going out of the Trophy to a 4-2 defeat at Ebsfleet and succombing to a 3-0 home defeat against Hampton & Richmond, but picking up a home draw v Slough and 1-0 win at Welling in between. Last season The Romans enjoyed a festive double over Town, with 3-2 (H) and 3-1 (A) wins.

Chippenham boast no fewer than five ex-Romans in their squad, including last-season’s forwards Ryan Brunt, Ross Stearn and Adam Mann. After recording four wins in five games and a clean sheet last Saturday, City will be hoping to keep their ex-players quiet and show their own scoring talents at the other end having scored 15 in five games.
