Second half Brunt-led fightback leaves City tickled pink
City made it three wins in row this afternoon at Twerton Park, beating Dulwich Hamlet by two goals to one in a closely fought and entertaining contest. The visitors led at the break but Ryan Brunt’s second double of the week turned the game in the Romans favour to lift them up to 6th place. Dulwich controlled the early stages, denying City the time and space to get their passing game going, whilst producing neat build-up play of their own. And on nine minutes one such move ended with Clunis lifting the ball past Ryan Clarke to put them in front. As the half progressed City began to enjoy more possession but it wasn’t until the closing minutes they tested Edwards through a well-struck Ross Stearn shot. And they upped their game further after the break, taking just five minutes to level. Adam Mann’s great free-kick picked out an unmarked Sean Rigg beyond the far post and his low cross was turned home by Brunt. Dulwich were now firmly on the back-foot and on 72 minutes they failed to deal with a cross into the box where Brunt was perfectly placed to lash the ball past Edwards. Mann almost made it 3-1 shortly afterwards which would have steadied nerves but as it was City only had one real scare after this when it took a great block by Joe Raynes to deny Clunis.
