Record crowd gets five-star treatment
Bath City Women produced a five-star performance in front of a record Twerton Park crowd this afternoon against SGS Olveston United Women. A crowd of 258 enjoyed a warm sunny afternoon and witnessed City scoring five times without reply, all in the first half. Adella Clarke got the ball rolling after just two minutes with a close range finish then Koz Thorner-Atkinson made it 2-0 five minutes later with a neat finish. It was 3-0 on 15 minutes as Thorner-Atkinson won the ball in the midfield before lifting a shot over the visitors keeper from long-range. Just past the half hour mark a great pass by Bex Fry saw Tara Taylor steer the ball home to make it 4-0. Libby Goater was then fouled in the box on 43 minutes but dragged the penalty wide. However, a minute later she made amends blasting the ball into the roof of the net from 12 yards. Olveston regrouped well in the second half and prevented any further addition to the scoring but never threatened an unlikely comeback to give City the perfect result ahead of next weekend’s big Junior Cup semi-final against Nailsea United.
