Princes Park point scant Romans reward
City picked up their first ever point at Princes Park this afternoon but will feel they should have secured all three after outplaying title-hopefuls Dartford for much of the game. The first half was especially one-sided but the Romans couldn’t turn their dominance into clear cut chances. The closest they came was late in the half when Callum Ebanks just failed to get on the end of a great James Morton pass. The second half was a more even affair, although it was City who continued to look the likier scorers. Both sides had the ball in the net but Sheringham’s 57th minute header was ruled out for a push on Joe Raynes and then Ebanks was denied a goal on 76 minutes by an offside flag. Six minutes later the same player spurned the best chance of the game when Mair spilled a cross but the striker could only direct his header straight back to the fortunate keeper. There was still time for Bonner to deny Tom Smith a certain goal with a great block and ensure the hosts would just about hold on for the draw.
