Preparations continue with Seasiders success
City’s preparations for their 2017-18 Vanarama National League South season – now just two weeks away – continued with a comfortable 2-0 win over Clevedon Town at Hand Stadium this afternoon. They had already created several good openings before Andy Watkins rose highest at the far post to head home Nick McCootie’s 18th minute cross. Another McCootie cross saw Nat Jarvis’ header crash against the post before the break but within four minutes of the restart they double their lead. A short cross routine between Billy Murphy and Anthony Straker saw the latter cross for Ryan Case to glance the ball past Forster in the Seasiders goal. That was it for the scoring although the Western League hosts were unlucky not to pull a goal back midway through the half when Barnes’ 30-yard free-kick struck the post.
City are next in pre-season action when Bristol Rovers return to Twerton Park on Wednesday 26 July (ko 7.45pm).
