Portishead Town Match Preview
Following their well deserved win over Welling United on Saturday, City take a break from league action on Tuesday evening when they entertain Portishead Town in the 2nd Round of the Somerset Senior Cup.
The visitors play in the Western League 1st Division competing with the likes of Odd Down, Welton Rovers and Radstock Town.
They presently lie in 18th position with 16 points from their 16 matches. On Saturday they lost 1-0 at Bristol Telephones.
While City reached this stage of the competition by defeating Clevedon Town in the 1st Round, Portishead’s tie with Wellington ended goalless but they won through on penalties.
This will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs and supporters can read about our opponents’ history, including Molly Jukes who founded the club and filled the roles of chair, manager, treasurer and kept goal for the ladies team!
The quarter finals will take place in the new year and City will be hoping to secure a place there alongside Odd Down, who defeated Paulton Rovers last week, and possibly Larkhall Athletic who host Yeovil Town on Wednesday.
