Martin joined City in January 2025 as goalkeeping coach. He began his playing career in the Plymouth Argyle youth teams before moving to the Bristol Academy of Sport at Filton College. He was signed by Bristol Rovers in October 2004. Although he signed a professional contract for the 2005/06 he failed to make a first team appearance. Martin joined Torquay United in July 2006 but following their relegation at the end of that season he left to join Yate Town. Spells with Salisbury City, Dorchester Town, Tiverton Town, R.R.F.C. Montegnée in Belgium, Weymouth and Herford following. He spent three seasons with the Bulls, helping them to promotion and a Wembley appearance in the FA Vase during the 2015/16 season. Subsequently he played for Cirencester Town, Swindon Supermarine and, most recently, a second spell with Yate Town.
