Opi returned to Twerton Park in March 2023 having previously spent two loans spells with the club during the 2017/18 season. The Ghana-born midfielder began his career with Bristol City – making four first-team appearances – where he also had loan spells with Solihull Moors and Torquay United, in addition to the Romans. The Robins released him in May 2021 and he joined Forest Green Rovers. He failed to break into the Forest Green 1st XI – spending further time with Torquay United during the 2021/22 season – and in September 2022 moved to the US to play for MLS Next Pro club Rochester New York FC. The club – part-owned by former City opponent and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy – folded earlier this month, leading to Opi heading back to the UK to join City.
