Next Match – Maidstone United (H)
After a cracking start to the NLS campaign against Dartford, the Romans return home to face Maidstone this Saturday 12th!
This match will mark the first competitive game of the season played at Twerton Park, so anticipate an electric atmosphere from all of you dedicated City fans!
It should be a great spectacle following the thrilling 3-3 encounter last time out at Prince’s Park, home of the Darts. New faces Ewan Clark and Jordan Thomas netted on their debuts and the familiar name of Scott Wilson on the scoresheet shows how much attacking prowess City possess.
United had a horrible spell in the National League last season. Only five wins from the entire campaign saw them finish bottom of the table by some margin. Then again, they have been able to secure a professional status for this season in the NLS, which puts them at a massive advantage over semi-pro clubs like City.
Maidstone’s first game of the season wasn’t anything spectacular, but the Stones did come away with a 2-1 win versus Slough Town courtesy of a Solomon Wanjau-Smith penalty and Reiss Greenidge strike.
City have a great opportunity to hit the ground running at Twerton Park facing Maidstone. If the Romans want to mount a promotion challenge, a home fortress is key to that success.
We hope to see you all there supporting the boys at the first home game of the season! Save £1 if you buy online: tickets are available here.
