Next Match – Eastbourne Borough (A)

Bath City travel for a tough away fixture against third-placed Eastbourne Borough this Saturday, hoping to build on the positives from Tuesday’s 3-3 draw at Twerton Park.

The two clubs find themselves at opposite ends of the league table this season, but the Romans’ recent record against the Sports is very good.

Last season, City brought home all three points from Priory Lane thanks to first-half goals from Jordan Thomas and a Cody Cooke penalty just before the break. Eastbourne pulled one back in the second half but it was to no avail.

The Romans completed the league double over the Sports in February, when a Ewan Clark goal 12 minutes from time took all three points at Twerton Park.

The Romans also did the double over Eastbourne in the 2022/23 season, winning 4-3 away in August after being 3-1 down at half-time, and then 2-0 at home in January – with Danny Greenslade’s goal of the season securing the win.

But the Sports have been going very strong this season – especially at home – and currently sit just behind early league leaders Weston-super-Mare and Truro City. They have not yet lost at Priory Lane in 2024/25, winning four and drawing the other four of their eight home league games so far.

However, in their last league outing, they suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat away at mid-table Chippenham Town, which will boost City’s hopes of building on the positives from Tuesday’s draw with Maidstone and finally earning what would be their first win in seven league matches.

Last Saturday the Sports defeated Dorking Wanderers on penalties in the FA Trophy after a 1-1 draw at Meadowbank. Last Tuesday, they progressed as expected in the Sussex Senior Challenge Cup with a 2-1 win at Lewes.

Unfortunately there will be no supporters’ coach to this Saturday’s game, but if you can’t make it to Eastbourne under your own steam you can still follow all the action live on Bath City Radio.
