Next Match – Chelmsford City (A)
Bath City travel to Essex this Saturday to take on Robbie Simpson’s Chelmsford City at the Melbourne Community Stadium.
Following a poor start to 2024/25, the Clarets will have renewed confidence after recording their first win of the season on Tuesday evening, an impressive 5-1 result away at Maidstone United. Last season’s FA Cup heroes have themselves yet to get going this season, but Chelmsford’s three goals in the last ten minutes of Tuesday’s match gave this particular bottle of Claret a richly satisfying finish.
They’ve just signed 21-year-old Paul Appiah following his departure from Leicester City, and went straight into the team that played Maidstone, for whom the young defender played on loan last season. The Clarets also currently have Oscar Thorn in their ranks, on loan from Colchester United. Thorn’s last loan spell was over the winter months last season at Bath City.
Chelmsford will be hoping to record a second successive win this Saturday, but the Romans also go into this game on the back of an impressive victory on Tuesday night, albeit not by the same scoreline. The 1-0 win over Truro City was the fourth time in a row that a home win at Twerton Park has been decided by a single goal.
Saturday is the 98th meeting between Chelmsford City and Bath City. Twenty-seven of these have been in Conference/National League South.
Overall record v Chelmsford City: Pld 97 W33 D19 L45 F145 A181
Quirks:
- City have had eight players sent off against Chelmsford in the division. The Essex outfit have had five in response.
- Goalkeeper Jason Mellor scored at Chelmsford in November 2014 – the only time a goalkeeper has scored for City in Conference/National League South.
There won’t be a Supporters Coach traveling from Bath to the game. But you can still follow all the action on Bath City Radio.
