Late free-kick denies City win over leaders

A stunning late free kick denied City a victory over table-topping Stockwood Wanderers (Women) 1st at Twerton Park this afternoon. The visitors came into the game boasting a 100% league record but were more than matched by City in a competitive first half. Clear-cut chances were at a premium but ten minutes after the restart City took the lead. Emily Dellow sent Libby Goater clear to lift her shot beyond keeper Bedford. Stockwood upped their game after this but City continued to stand firm. However, with seven minutes left Grace Phillips’ 30-yard free-kick gave Sadie Farley no chance to level the scores.
