Keeper heroics sees City suffer home defeat
A remarkable goalkeeping performance from Shona Moore saw City finish up on the wrong end of a smash-and-grab 2-1 defeat against bottom of the table Purton at Twerton Park this afternoon. There was a sign of the events to come when City opened the scoring after five minutes, Moore saving Shannon Redhouse’s initial shot but seeing the same player slide the rebound into the net. From then on the keeper produced a string of great saves to deny City and just before the interval a rare attack saw Neate level for the visitors. There was little change to the game into the second period as Moore continued her one-women show to keep City out. By contrast City keeper Sadie Farley has been a virtual spectator for the whole half but with a couple of minutes left she was beaten by Neate’s low shot to seal a remarkable win for Purton.
