Cox nets treble in big County Cup win

Led by a Sonny Cox hat-trick City cruised into the Somerset Premier Cup semi-finals this evening with a 5-0 win over Larkhall Athletic. It took just 12 minutes for City to open the scoring when Tom Smith marked his 200th appearance for the Romans with a neat finish from eight yards. Five minutes before the half-time interval City struck again, Cox sliding a shot past Kelsey from a similar position. The largely one-way traffic continued after the break with Elliott Frear crossing for Cox to make it 3-0 on 56 minutes. A quickly taken free-kick saw Frear fire home ten minutes later before Cox completed his hat-trick two minutes from time to complete the comprehensive victory.
