Club statement about return of fans to Twerton Park
Bath City FC regrets to say that fans will not yet be able to return to Twerton Park as a consequence of instructions by the Bath & North East Somerset Safety Advisory Group (SAG).
The Club has been in regular contact with the relevant council officer attempting to establish clearance for the return of fans since the summer, as required by the League and Twerton Park’s status as a designated sports ground. The SAG was sent our documentation for the return of spectators in September but, despite that, the earliest that the SAG would meet with our directors was this Thursday 10th December. We expected a decision at that Zoom meeting but the SAG now say they need a site inspection, which they can’t do until Tuesday 15th December. As a consequence we will be unable to allow spectators to attend the match on Tuesday 15th December.
The Club stresses that our Stage 5 protocols for the safe return of spectators have been approved by the League and praised by the Sports Ground Safety Authority. We share the fans’ frustrations at this undue delay. We are working hard to get all the clearances required and are deeply sorry that we cannot welcome you back following these additional hurdles, that there was no reason to anticipate.
