City Women in contrasting cup fortunes

City Women’s 1st team exited the Divisional Cup following a 4-2 penalty shoot-out defeat against Royal Wootton Bassett Town Ladies this afternoon. Debutant Erin Duffy gave the Romans a first half lead but the home side levelled in the second half thanks to a close range Davies header. Libby Goater and Duffy were successful from the spot but misses from Tara Taylor and Emily Dellow saw Royal Wootton Bassett progress to the next round.

By contrast the development side had no such drama as they cruised to a 6-0 League Cup win over Paulton Rovers Ladies Development at Twerton Park. A first half double from Anna Wilson put City in control of the tie before Salma Es-Slami Jimenez (2), Liv Davis and Amy Hucker completed another big win for the side. They will face Weston Super Mare Women’s Reserves in the next round.
