City Women have to settle for Purton point
Bath City Women picked up a point this afternoon in a 1-1 draw with Purton Women at Twerton Park. Defences dominated the first half before City began to look more threatening after the break. Chelsea Giles saw a centre hit the top of the crossbar before a great run and cross by Tara Taylor just evaded Amy Key at the far post. A Tamzin Dunne cross on the hour mark caused havoc in the Purton box but Tanea Wright and Key couldn’t force the ball home. The pressure finally told eight minutes later when another a cross by Mils Bellotti dropped for Sophie Bull to net from close range. However, the lead only lasted two minutes as a corner was headed in by Skinner from six yards. Wright had a great chance to restore the lead seven minutes from time after Taylor’s pass sent her clear but she sliced a shot wide.
Bath City Women’s Development side enjoyed a 4-0 win at Cheddar Ladies this afternoon, with Ceris Evans netting a hat-trick and Esme Fensome also on target.
