City open pre-season with big win

City opened their pre-season campaign this afternoon with a 5-1 win at Larkhall Athletic’s picturesque Plain Ham ground. The star of the show was Alex Fletcher as he netted a hat-trick, with Cody Cooke and Jayden Neilson also on the scoresheet. Despite the final result it was the home side who struck first, Jones heading home a corner in the 19th minute. City levelled on 36 minutes when Cooke latched onto a ball forward to strike a first time shot into the net. And six minutes later Fletcher outjumped the Larks keeper to head City in front at the interval Just past the hour mark Fletcher netted his second and City’s third, tapping home after Cooke’s header had been parried by the keeper. On 68 minutes substitute Neilson’s well-struck volley made it 4-1 before, six minutes from time, Fletcher completed his hat-trick with a left-foot shot to cap off an excellent work-out for Jerry’s Gill new-look side.
