City mark milestone with Twerton Park win

Bath City Women marked their 50th competitive first team game with a 2-1 victory over Cirencester Town at Twerton Park. City enjoyed the upper hand from the start and opened the scoring on 28 minutes. Koz Thorner-Atkinson was tripped around 19 yards out and Erin Duffy stepped up to fire home the free-kick. And it was Thorner-Atkinson who doubled City’s lead six minutes after the interval when the visitors failed to clear Maddie Brown’s corner and her low drive found the net. Having been in complete control of the game they gifted Cirencester a goal with 15 minutes left when Libby Goater flicked a corner into her own net. Having lost a four goal lead in the corresponding fixture back in September nerves would have been understandable but City stood firm to secure the three points and move up to fourth in the table ahead of the Christmas and New Year break.

City’s Development side couldn’t make it a double, going down 3-0 to Wellington Wildcats in Somerset.
