City leave it late to grab Truro point
A stoppage-time Dan Hayfield free-kick saw City return from Devon this evening with a point in a 1-1 draw with Truro City.
The home side took the lead after just five minutes when ex-City duo Rooney and Harvey combined for the latter to fire past Ollie Wright. It took City a while to settle after this setback but as the half progressed they began to look a greater threat going forward, with a Jordan Thomas header against the post coming close to an equaliser.
Truro started the second half brightly but soon City were back on top. Clear chances were hard to come by though with the White Tigers defending well. However, as the game moved into the second of eight minutes of stoppage time Tom Smith was fouled on the edge of the box. Although Pardington got a hand to Hayfield’s low free-kick it found the net via the post.
