Brown double keeps Flyers grounded
Two second half goals from Maddie Brown helped City beat Downend Flyers 3-1 this afternoon at Twerton Park. Ashley Harris had given the Romans the lead in the 8th minute, picking her spot from just inside the area. However, the visitors, who came into the game still searching for a first league win of the season, levelled three minutes later when Smith’s long range effort bounced awkwardly in front of Sadie Farley and spun into the net. Neither side could gain the upper hand for the rest of the first half but City improved considerably after the break. They restored their lead on 56 minutes when Tara Taylor crossed for Brown to bundle the ball home at the back post. And five minutes later the same player made it 3-1, sliding Erin Watkin’s cross into the net.
