Away trip to East Thurrock United

City’s 2018/19 tour of Essex continues on Saturday when we travel to East Thurrock United, hoping to build on some excellent recent results.

In contrast the Rocks have picked up just three points from their opening seven fixtures presenting manager John Coventry with one of his biggest challenges in his long tenure at the club.

Back in February Jack Batten’s goal enabled us to return from Rookery Lane with a point which was a big improvement on our two previous visits, including a humiliating exit from the Trophy.

The Rocks’ home is a pleasant ground to visit. Situated in the small town of Corringham, with a Saxon church and pub just a few yards away it is certainly one of the more picturesque venues in this league. With its patchwork of small stands and army of willing helpers, the friendly atmosphere encapsulates what non league football is all about for many supporters.

A detailed description of the ground can be found at…

Getting there

The 170 mile trip from Bath will take around three hours. The Supporters Club will not be running a coach to this match but Martin Brush is organising independent transport and he can be contacted on  07881 728689.

The train journey will take about the same time with changes at Paddington and Fenchurch Street and a ten minute bus trip from Stanford le Hope Station to the ground.
