Away trip to East Thurrock United
Unless we return there in the play offs, City’s tour of Essex ends next Saturday when we travel to East Thurrock United, hoping to build on the excellent victory at Braintree.
The Rocks presently sit in mid table, with seven points less than City but with three matches in hand, due to a run in the FA Trophy. This will only be the sixth meeting between the two clubs with the home team always coming out on top.
The fixture at Twerton back in November was won 4-0 by City in one of their best displays of the season and went some way to healing the wounds of one of the worst days in the club’s history. Fans who travelled to Rookery Hill in the 4th qualifying round of the Cup back in October 2014 were looking forward to a straight forward victory after Dan Ball’s goal put us ahead but the next hour was the stuff of nightmares as our Ryman League opponents rattled in seven and sent us to a humiliating exit.
Despite those painful memories, the Rocks’ home is a pleasant, if rather quirky, ground to visit. Now named the FutureFuel Stadium, it is situated in the small town of Corringham, with a Saxon church and pub just a few yards away. It is certainly one of the more picturesque venues in this league.

Getting there
The 170 mile trip from Bath will take around three hours. Unfortunately the Supporters Club will not be running a large coach due to insufficient demand, but please contact Martin Brush on 07881 728689 if you wish to travel on an independently run coach.

The train journey will take about the same time with changes at Paddington and Fenchurch Street and a ten minute bus trip from Stanford le Hope Station to the ground.
Whichever means of travel you use to get to the match, have a safe journey and hopefully the reward of three more points in our push for the play offs!
