Corsham Town Ladies (0) 1 Bath City Women (1) 1 – Sunday 2 March 2025 – Regen Arable SW Regional WFL Div 1N – Southbank
Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Bath City conceded their first goal in just over six hours as they were held at Corsham.
Maddy Brown’s well worked opener was cancelled out by Andrea Chludilova in the closing minutes at Southbank.
It was probably what the hosts deserved for an improved second half performance.
The draw keeps City in 5th with six league matches remaining.
Adella Clarke shot wide on the turn early as Matt Abreu’s team continued their recent trend of starting strongly.
They had to be more patient in Wiltshire, before taking the lead midway through the half.
Libby Goater’s brilliant ball between two defenders was raced onto by Brown, who smashed into the roof of the net at Lily Lewis’ near post.
The goalkeeper was nearly left red-faced moments later when Tia Harris’ backpass bobbled over her foot, but the stopper reacted excellently to slide the ball away before it crossed the line.
Gabby Menghini’s free-kick from distance sailed just over Sadie Farley’s crossbar in Corsham’s only real threat of the half, as they were largely second best due to a strong display from the visitors.
City struggled to reach the same levels after the break.
Brown’s shot from Tara Taylor’s initial corner was deflected just wide as they seldom tested Lewis.
Abby Gray threw herself in the way of Tia Mahadevan’s shot from distance, but a defensive mishap eventually cost City a couple of points.
Farley played the ball to the under pressure Bex Fry from a backpass, and the defender was swiftly robbed by Chludilova, who drove past the helpless keeper – the first goal City had let in for a month.
Fry nearly made amends but saw her free-kick batted away by Lewis as the game drifted into a stalemate.
