City end pre-season on winning note
Two goals from Cody Cooke, plus a fifth summer clean sheet, brought City’s pre-season campaign to an end on a winning note against Yate Town this afternoon. The Romans afternoon began with Joe Raynes being withdrawn after just 11 minutes to protect a tight groin and it took a while for the side to settle. However, as the half progressed they began to find their rhythm and, after going close on several occasions, they struck a minute before the break when Batten’s shot found the net via a Cooke deflection. City’s no.9 had the ball in the net again a minute later but the regular sight of an offside flag ruled out that effort. He was not to be denied a second goal though, producing a neat finish from Dan Hayfield’s cross with 11 minutes left to secure the victory.
