Late own goal saves City after penalty miss
For the fourth time in six pre-season outings City had to settle for a draw in a game of two penalties against Westbury United at a damp Platinum Hyundai Park this afternoon. City dominated the game for long periods and should have broken the deadlock ten minutes before the interval when Jordan Thomas was tripped in the box by Hulbert. However, Cody Cooke saw his penalty kick well saved by Baldy down low to his left. Five minutes into the second half the referee was pointing to the spot again, this time in favour of the home side, when Ben Morgan slipped as he challenged Shanley. Hulbert fired into the roof of the net to give Ollie Wright no chance. City continued to play on the front foot but, just when it looked like the Step 4 side would hold out for an impressive win, City grabbed a last gasp equaliser. The clock was just shy of the 90 minutes when Ewan Clark’s looping cross was headed past his own keeper by Hulbert to compete an eventful afternoon for the full-back.
