Jerry’s thoughts ahead of the game
“This is all set up for a great game for you all to witness. We certainly won’t be taking anything for granted just because Frome play two levels below us. They have had a wonderful start to the season in the both league and Cup, including a superb win v Oxford City in the previous round.
For us, it’s all about ensuring we have done our homework, as usual, on them and implementing our game plan on the tie.
We are hoping to have Callum Wood back available today after recovering from a period of isolation following his positive test for Covid. Ryan Clarke is doing really well with his individual programme and will be looking to join back into the group next week for training only to start with.
Last Saturday here, saw a very good Maidstone Utd side come out on top. I thought they did all the simple things very, very well. I was disappointed with the amount of second balls we had lost, down to only 32% success rate when we usually hit around 58%.
Saying all that we more than matched them for 50 minutes but, in all honesty, the three shots they had on target were very clinical. The luxury of full time coaching on the grass was also a factor, they did look more of a unit and team on the day so no complaints with the result.
So back to today and us going forward. The focus on a nice bright week in training and today’s game should be something the players are very excited to play in. The FA Cup can bring so many wonderful experiences and memories. Time for the players to go make those dreams happen.
The message from the staff to the players is, go show our level and quality but only after we earn the right in the tie through hard work, desire and togetherness.
I am really confident we can hit more consistency and put ourselves on an extended run of positive results. There is so much more to come from this group. We can only keep to our process and targets as a group and trust the rest will follow.
Thanks once again for the amazing support especially in the last four home games here, being over 1,000!! You do make a huge difference to the players. It works both ways so our players must deliver today and give you all some moments to sing loud and proud.
Enjoy today’s game.
Up The Romans!”
