Bath City FC Foundation enjoy support of Premier League Primary Stars Programme
Bath City FC Foundation have been working closely with Roundhill Primary School as part of the Premier League Primary Stars Programme.
Sam Downes – Project lead for Primary Stars has been supporting teachers in the school with their PE delivery and has worked specifically with a group of girls at lunchtime improving their confidence and self esteem, supported by Women’s and Girls coach Rhianna Jamieson. Just before lockdown the girls were due to take part in a Primary Stars tournament in Cardiff along with teams from other EFL clubs in the region. Unfortunately this had to be cancelled and it was a huge disappointment to the girls. The girls’ resilience has been fantastic and this was proved over the lockdown period. They put together an amazing presentation while at school highlighting the progress they had made individually and as a group. They were invited to Twerton Park over the Summer to present and also take part in some healthy living activities and PE football activities on the pitch.
Sam said “It’s been so rewarding to see the development of the girls over the time we have spent with them. The change in confidence and leadership skills shown has been great to see and it’s also playing a huge part in their school work and social skills. The school have been very supportive in terms of how we work with the girls, in particular Julia Mcdonald who is the CP and Family Support Co-ordinator. It was nice to be able to invite the group to the ground over the summer and we are grateful to Bath City FC for enabling us to use the facility. I’m looking forward to continuing our strong links with the school and our other schools in the Primary Stars Programme.”
The Foundation’s work continues with the girls in the school, 2 year groups and teachers. It has been very pleasing to see the positive strides that have been made. We feel it has been invaluable to be able to offer the girls these sorts of opportunities and it has only been possible through the support of the Premier League Charitable Fund (PLCF) and the National League Trust (NLT).
