The Vanarama First Four – Bath hope to keep blowing teams away!
League sponsors Vanarama have been busy assessing the season so far – and what’s to come!
Story so far…
It’s one of encouragement. We see so often clubs coming off the back of a fine season not producing second time around, but that has certainly not been the case. The Romans went top on Tuesday and they’ve been good value for it.
Gill gives his view…
Jerry Gill knows the score. “We need to make sure everybody stays calm. No league is ever won in August and if you think you have got it cracked things can quickly bite you on the bottom.”
Biggest result so far…
Not much doubt about this one. Last Saturday’s 3-0 win at Welling United – last season’s National League South play-off finalists of course – was a ‘sit up and take notice’ type of result.
Top performer…
While Ross Stearn always seems to come up with the goods, fans have been well impressed by Tom Smith in the first four matches.
Stat attack…
League position: 1st
Home goals for: 4
Away goals for: 4
Home goals against: 1
Away goals against: 1
What the fans say…
“We look dangerous – stay up there and we will see some big crowds” said @LeakeyKeith on twitter.
“We are starting to look the real deal this season and we have a squad to be right in the mix” added @OctoLes.
City fan @cannonball5355 posted: “Very early days but looking extremely good indeed.”
Next up…
It’s another home game as Tonbridge Angels visit on Saturday. They secured their first win of the season in midweek and Bath beware, they booted Concord Rangers off of top spot.
Their one to watch…
Keep an eye out for winger Joey Turner, a powerful and fast wide player who needs to be kept in check.
Haven’t we met before?
The last game between the two sides came five years ago. The 1-1 draw on a cold January afternoon wasn’t one to remember.
