City record first pre-season victory against Melksham Town
City were given another stern pre-season test this evening against a fully-committed Melksham Town side before recording their first win of the close season thanks to goals from Alex Hartridge and Tyler Harvey. City largely controlled the goalless first half, Harvey seeing another free-kick strike the frame of the goal, Hartridge failing to convert a close range chance and Matt Bower heading a cross narrowly over the bar. The deadlock was broken on 64 minutes when Hartridge rose the highest to head home Connor Riley-Lowe’s corner. The home side levelled though seven minutes later when a pass over the top was collected by Ball and he fired across Ryan Clarke into the net. City’s restored their lead with eleven minutes left, Harvey charging down a clearance by Town’s keeper to divert the ball into the goal, and that was how the game ended.
