Vacant unit on Twerton High Street brings carnival to town

A vacant shop unit on Twerton High Street has been brought to life by Bath Carnival as they have taken over the empty retail space so they can prepare for their July event. The organisation has been using the space to run a series of community workshops with local people, as well as create costumes.

The unit on the High Street has been made available free of charge for Bath Carnival by landlords Greenacre Capital, whop are currently working with Bath City FC on proposals to redevelop Twerton Park and Twerton High Street. Providing this unit to local community groups and charitable organisations is part of the project’s aim to breathe new life into the shopping area.

Greenacre Capital and Bath City FC announced last summer that the retail space, which was formerly a café, was available to be used by local traders as a pop-up shop or by charities and organisations for workshops or drop-in sessions.

A spokesman for Greenacre Captial said, “We are really pleased to see this unit being used in such a creative and colorful way. As part of our partnership with Bath City FC we are committed to helping make Twerton High Street a vibrant place to be. We look forward to other groups and organisations coming forward to make use of this space to the benefit of the local community.”

The available unit is approximately 1,050.sq.ft with a kitchenette, office and toilet facilities including baby changing, and will be rent free. The cost of utilities will also be covered.
